This little man...

is one month old today!

 I hate how fast the time goes and I know it's only going to go faster.  He's grown and changed so much in a month.  He now weighs 9 lbs 10 oz and is 22 inches long.  What a chunk! I call him my hungry hungry baby hippo because all he wants to do is eat :)  When he's hungry, watch out, if anything gets anywhere near his face it's gone. I love him so much.  It's been busy though.  When we took him in for his 2 week checkup, the Dr found a heart murmer, a hydrocele in his testicle, and his belly button was still oozing.  They chemically cauterized his belly button and the hydrocele is like a hernia, only with fluid, so his right one was 3 times the size of his left one.  If it doesn't resolve on it's own then they go in and fix it surgically so we're crossing our fingers it just goes away.  We had to take him to a cardiologist to make sure his heart murmer was no big deal, which we did yesterday.  They did an EKG and an echocardiogram (ultrasound) of his heart and everything checked out perfectly healthy and normal.  The murmer should go away as he gets older.

The biggest problem we have with him now is gas.  And I mean gas.  He stores it in his little gut to the point where his belly distends 2 or 3 times it's normal size.  They almost did an ultrasound on his belly to see if he had bowel obstruction.  He swallows air like crazy; when he eats, when he cries, when he hiccups, when he just lays there he gulps air and doesn't release it.  He pushes and pushes and can barely get any out.  We've tried everything to help him but he's so gassy. He has a fussy time for at least a couple hours throughout the day because of it.  But of all the things that could be wrong with a baby I'd definately take gas over most.  I just hate being so helpless when he hurts and he just looks at me with this sad face asking me with his eyes why I'm not helping him.  His daddy gave him a blessing after we found all this, and since then he's been doing much better.

Oh, and he's losing all his hair. :( I'm so sad because I love his hair and now he has an old man do; bald on top, hair on the sides and back

But I wouldn't trade him for anything :)
