Halloween 2013

So Halloween this year was a success!! Waaay better than last year, if you remember me blogging about it, how all 3 of us were so sick that we spent Halloween on the couch or in the bathroom?? Well I swore that this year would be better and it was! I wanted to do The Hunchback of Notre Dame and I was about 50% successful.  I say 50 because I wanted Jace to be Esmerelda's goat that she carries around with her, and Buck to be Captian Pheobous.  Well, Buck was willing but I got a late start on making our costumes.  I've never made halloween costumes before, but growing up my mom always made ours every year and I loved it, so I've decided to try to make ours when I can.  And I simply ran out of time to make Buck's costume, and Jace had a little white beanie with floppy goat ears, but he pretty much just slept the whole time so I don't have any pictures of him. Sad, I know.  Thus it was mainly just me and Kallan who dressed up.  I also decided last year that since we missed everything, that we would do everything this year, and we did.  Our first thing we did was trick or treating at Hogle Zoo.  Most of these pictures are from when we were at the zoo. Kallan had a blast there.

Ha, Buck told him to do two thumbs up and this is what we got. He better not be rating his costume ha ha

Our totally awesome library did trick or treating as well, along with spooky shows, a princess show, a pirate cove with buried treasure, and a witch's lair.  Super cute
On Halloween day, Buck had work off so we attempted our new tradition of homemade donut making. They turned out okay, but they tasted more like scones than donuts. Still yummy though

After donut making, we trick or treat all up and down main street in Springville, they do a parade of trick or treating so it was nice, and fun.  I wanted Kallan to experience true old-fashioned traditional trick or treating so while waiting for our ward trunk or treat party to start, we went out and knocked on about 10 doors and trick or treated.  Something I have done since elementary school.  Kallan thought it was a pretty sweet deal.
Then we went to our ward party, which was so much fun.  Everyone decorated their trunks all festive and we scored lots of candy there.  We also had chili, donuts, and hot chocolate.  One family even brought a fire place and had smores.

Here's my trunk.  Not bad for my first year? Although I was definately a rookie after seeing some peoples' decorations.  I'm going to rock it next year :)

Such a fun holiday, and even better when you get to do it with your kids. I can't wait for next year, because Jace will be walking, so the four of us will be something awesome!
