Our Valentine's Day...flop??

Ok so for Valentine's this year, I decided I was going to be a little Martha Stewart. Litterally. One of the girls I work with had a Marth Stewart Valentines magazing with tons of ideas for Valentines in which I thought were so cute, and wanted to surprise Buck with. Friday while he was at work I tried to bake him a cake and cupcakes. Welp, ended up kinda burning them. Saturday I woke up early and snuck out to make him a special valentine's breakfast which consisted of heart shaped eggs in a basket and bacon. Ok I know I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer but I didn't think it would be as HARD as it was. I'm cooking challenged.

Here are my many attempts. I tried to use pink food coloring to make them pink, because Saint Valentine used to have a pink chicken that laid pink eggs. Not any more. I took that chicken out back and shot it because the eggs just looked bloody, not pink. So the magazine showed that you cut a heart out of the bread and cook the egg inside the bread. She must be freakin magic or something because it didn't look that hard, but I kept burning the bread and the egg wasn't even done yet. ????

So when I actually didn't burn the bread, it just fell apart instead of forming a heart. Oh and as for the cake...I tried to dump it out to frost it and it fell apart. So I thought Icould just cut it into a heart. Guess that's what I get for thinking.

The cake. It looks like a Betty Crocker cake mix box threw up.

So after about 6 pieces of burnt bread, and 5 destroyed, bloody eggs, I figured out enough to make it look alright. I surprised him to a big mess and a cold breakfast.

This is the over all product. I was so frustrated by the time I was done I didn't even care about the little stuff. Ha ha, notice my plate? Didn't even careIn the end it worked out really good. We spent the day at State Wrestling watching my brothers for their last time, and then we went to dinner, and then I took Buck to Sportsman's Warehouse and told him to pick out what he wanted. So then we went and got this for me (above)And he surprised me with a lotion gift basket. He did really well this year. We then went and saw Taken in the theaters. Best movie ever. Totally reccommend it. So all in all it was an awesome Valentines together, and I learned a good lesson. Don't try and make him a Martha Stewart breakfast. I kinda want to push her down, and stomp on her a bit.

Your breakfast was beautiful! I am glad you had a good Valentines day anyways. I have come to realize they don't care as long as it tastes good. I don't think Rory would have known if they were hearts or not.

Annalee, you attempted more than I would even think of. :-) They look pretty good to me too!! Darn Martha Stewart, makes things look too easy! Glad you had a happy Valentines Day. I love the picture of the temple, it's awesome.

Annalee you are so cute. I think you worked to hard to make a special breakfast. I am sure if you would have made scrambled eggs Buck would have been happy. Well sounds like you had a great Valentine's Day.

Ha ha.. you're seriously so funny! I bet Martha Stewart had to try more than once and she probably has computers to make them look better than they really are! :) I love what Buck got you for Valentines day- I have that exact same picture of the temple, I love it! My Grandma & Grandpa gave it to us for Christmas- I think those pictures are gorgeous!
