Introducing...

Jace Blake Ashby
Born June 26, 2013
7 lbs 10 oz 19 in

Bringing Jace into the world was such a different story than with Kallan. I was induced this time, so I was able to plan and pack and shower and be all ready. Granted I was able to shower and get ready with Kallan too because I knew I was in labor and labored at home with him for about 14 hours before going to the hospital.
I checked in at 7 AM, got changed and recieved my IV. I hung out for about half an hour before they came in and started pitocin on me. I was only dialated to a one, (which I had been for 4 weeks) and barely 60% effaced.  Once they started my pitocin I felt it start working immediately. Half an hour more and my doctor came in and broke my water.  That, my friends, is the weirdest thing ever.  Nothing like sitting in bed and feeling like you're peeing, letting it go everywhere and just sitting in it.  Weird.  Two hours after breaking my water, I was dialated to a 3, (hence why I'm holding up 3 fingers in the above pic) and the CRNA came in to do my epidural. I was feeling my contractions really good by then too so it was perfect timing.  With Kallan, my epidural was placed so perfectly where I was numb from the pain but could still feel and move my legs. I wanted that again this time, and they did not disappoint.  I barely felt them put that huge needle into my back, and it numbed me from the pain but I could feel pressure and my legs still.  About 1:30 PM they told me I was complete and my doctor came in and we got set up. I put myself into the stirrups and was even able to lift my butt for them.  I pushed for a total of 4 contractions, less than 20 minutes and he was out! I was able to feel the relief of him leaving my body.  Total time, 6.5 hours labor. Cake walk. I couldn't believe how fast and easy it was, I'm so lucky. Everything was totally fine with Jace, at first they were kind of worried about him and told me he needed oxygen and an IV to give him a fluid volume.  They put him on my chest for a few minutes before taking him to do that.  He was extremely pale with bright red lips. Totally crazy looking.  After he was gone the nurse got me up and I was able to walk to the bathroom to get cleaned up.

Here he is on my chest before they took him

Kallan waited in the hall with grandpa, and didn't know what to think about what was going on

They brought Jace back to me about 20 minutes later with no IV! They said he perked up enough with just oxygen that they didn't have to put one in him. I was one relieved mama.
I love Kallan's face in this pic, he was so skepital at first

But he sure warmed up quickly and wanted to hold and love and kiss him. He's been very involved ever since

 Pround daddy, again :)

Our first pic as a family of four!

This whole one eye closed thing of Kallan's is his "Smile" face.  Whenever the camera comes out and we tell him to smile he says, "cheese" and makes this face. So funny
We put him in the same going home outift that Kallan wore home. So happy that he's here safe and healthy.  He nurses so good and is the perfect addition to our little family.  Kallan is a great big brother, he does get a little jealous but loves to help me for the most part, and is spending some quality one on one time with his daddy and is loving that

Coming home pics
Welcome to the crazy baby Jace, we're so blessed and lucky to have you!
