Our really good family friends Cody and Kassidy got married today, and we were able to spend their day with them. We attended the sealing ceremony in the temple with them and then came back to Moroni to the groom's parents' home to have a luncheon of super good tacos. The whole day up until their reception that evening had been perfect weather. Cloud cover, with no rain or wind. It wasn't too hot which was nice. The reception started at 6 PM, and at 6:30, it began pouring rain. It became crazy. Everyone started running to put the TV and speakers and music away, they hurried and covered the food and gift table with big umbrellas and sun shades, we had to bring all of the decorations inside and everyone scrambled for some sort of cover. The mother of the groom was so upset because all the hard work she had put into her yard and into the reception, was getting soaked. People began leaving and those who showed up hurried to congratlate the bride and groom and then split. There was so much food left over because no one took the time to really grab some. The rain let up a little for about an hour, and then when it was time for Cody and Kassidy to cut their cake, it started up again. Then it was time for them to dance their first dance as husband and wife to their song. It was so cool because they just let loose and began to dance in the rain, getting soaked and just laughing and not caring. Then they dance with their parents, and by that time, everyone who had been trying to shelter to stay dry, all said screw it and joined them out in the rain. I was standing under an umbrella taking pictures when Buck told me to put my camera inside so we could go dance. Now for those of you who know my husband, you also know that he doesn't dance. Not in public, not in private, not ever. I hadn't planned on getting wet, but the second he wanted to dance, I flung my camera to my brother and we took Kallan and joined everyone.
You can't see in the pictures how hard it's raining but you can kinda see how wet we are.
I love this picture, because you can see all these people out dancing and getting soaked, and the Bride and Groom are in the center of it all. How fun will it be for them to remember that they danced in the rain at their wedding? :)
Kallan started to shiver with cold so we had to retreat under the umbrella but it was still so much fun.
We stripped little man down and gave him some dry clothes and a blanket to get warm in
Tiny man stayed nice and warm and cozy in the house the entire time. Tonight is a memory that I will keep and cherish forever, because Buck was happy. He loves the rain and cool weather and for him to let loose and want to dance with me isn't something he usually does, but I wish he would do more. Tonight was a good and happy night and I'm so glad we were able to share it. I'm so blessed to have my family. My heart is full and happy, and I'm so lucky to have them. Today was a good day, and tonight, we danced in the rain.
