Ok everyone, I kinda have big news...ha ha you thought I was going to announce I was pregnant huh?
NOPE. Not pregnant.
Ok so it's probably not really that big, but it is for me, so I thought I'd share.
If any of you know me, it doesn't even have to be know me well, if any of you know me at all, then you know that I am not a runner. Never have been a runner, never liked running, never been good at running...whenever I run, I look like someone who's smoked for fifty years with COPD, chronic bronchitis, and emphysema. (Yes I know they're the same as COPD, I was painting the picture) I get the horrible side aches as soon as I jog 10 yards, I'm out of breath after 20 yards, okay now I'm just telling you all how out of shape I am. Point is, and I'm sure you get it, I hate to run.
So funny story: My Fire Chief at Pleasant Grove is an awesome runner. He runs like 15+ miles per day no problem. So he wanted all of us at the fire dept. to run in the Utah Valley Marathon coming up in June this summer, and he hit me up about it. Marathon. 26 miles. Twenty Six MILES. I actually thought he hated me and was trying to kill me. So I told him "Baby steps Chief, baby steps" and I told him I would run this summer starting out with 5K runs first. So that's my big news. Buck and I entered into the Running With Angels 5K run/walk. (emphasis on the run/walk. Walk. This means I can have walk breaks to breathe) Believe it or not I'm kinda excited about it. It's on a Saturday, May 16th at Thanksgiving Point Gardens, so at least it will be a pretty run. And 5K is only like 3.1 miles, which is whimpy stuff to my Chief but a huge start for me. I'm trying to prep right now and run as much as I can until then, and Buck has been a trooper, helping me. He runs with me when we're both home together and helps pace me. So I'll update you after I run this thing and let you know how I do. Some of you are probably laughing at me because you run 15+ miles a day too, but for me, this is huge. Wish me luck! Because after only two days of running, as I'm doubled over holding my side and gasping for air, little thoughts like, "What were you thinking?" start to trickle into my mind...

Did you tell Chief that running is not healthy, as he is on crutches right now. I hate running too, but to it because of work. Good luck and remember just go out and run, not for speed. My sister has done this running program that she really liked, you should take a look at it. It starts out with interval stuff and works up to a 5K. It is called something like "couch potato to 5K", I think if you google it, it will pull the website up. GOOD LUCK!
Good luck to you, but I know you don't need it you can do anything you put your mind to. Your such a trooper!! You'll have to do Fairviews fun run in July I have only done it once but it was great fun!!
Yay to you! If I wasn't fat preggo I would run with you! You can do it, the whole race thing gets addicting too! Plus run a couple miles a day = eat whatever you want! you don't have to worry about this but when you are old like me, even when you don't like running it's worth it!
Good Luck Annalee! You should be my motivation!! :)
That is so AWESOME!! I think you'll learn to LOVE running. I wanted to do something like that so bad this summer. Yeah right! Not gonna happen.
Good for you! I want to train with you! AHH!!!
*haha.. I guess it's obvious I'm one of those people who love running*
I don't know if you remember my older sister Janille but she hated running growing up too. But this past year that changed she decided she wanted to start so she trained and she ran 6 5/k's, 2 marathons, and 1 1/2 marathon.
I'll run Fairviews fun run with you if you want. I did it last year with my sister. It was a lot of fun. I am really out of shape right now. It would be good to train for something like that. Let me know if you want to.
Good for you. I am going to run a
5K this year. I was thinking about the turkey trot or the lamb scram. I haven't quite decided! But first, I need to get into shape. It's amazing what two kids will do to ya!
