Kallan had his end of the year music recital last night and boy oh boy was that somethin else. The pre-school he goes to really focuses on music, and social skills for this age, which I really like. He really did pretty well this year, and I like how this program is set up. All of the kids picked out a song they wanted to sing as their solo to perform, and Kallan chose the song, Lean On Me. He knows every word and can sing the entire chorus on tune, thanks to Buck teaching him. He loves that song, and he practiced and was ready to sing it. Well he's recently started in all this shy business. We got there, he went in with his class, and then it started. Music started playing and they all came out in a parade clanging different instruments as they walked around the room in a circle. Well Kallan took two steps, saw me, and the system shut down. He started bawling. Like this dramatic, drawn out, wailing, ugly cry type thing. And he stopped walking and just stalled the whole line behind him. He was trying to out-cry the volume of the music. His teacher grabbed his hand and lead him around the room as he proceeded to wail hysterically. Once he sat in his chair in front of the whole room, he reached his arms out for me and started wiggling his fingers and wailed, "I want you mom! I want you!" I had to get up and go sit by him just to calm him down. I whispered in his ear for a few minutes, calmed him down, and then gave him my bracelets and he was fine. Just like that. I have never seen him like this before, I did not know what to do. And trust me, he didn't shed one tear. It was all an act.
After that fiasco, he just started be silly, and started bursting out laughing all loud, dramatic and forced. He kept interrupting the other kids, and the songs, and his teacher, just to make noise. I just stared at him from the audience in awe, thinking, "This kid is bipolar." Yes folks, I had THAT kid. *Facepalm
He was cute for all of these songs
Then when it was his turn to sing the solo, he just sat up there just like this, giggling. His teacher holding the microphone, begging him to sing. And he just giggled all goofy like.
Whatever right?? He's still a pretty great kid, and I love him no matter what. We had a little chat about being respectful when we got home though.
I love this little program he's in so much, that he's going there all summer for summer school. And maybe even next year. Congrats, you little turd!
