Joe, Blake and a few Bucks...

I've acutally had quite a few people ask me about my husband's name, Buck. (almost every time I introduce him really) So I thought I would explain how he got it. Buck is in fact just a nick name. When he was born, his Irish grandpa came to the hospital and begged Buck's mom to name him, Buck. She refused of course, so his grandpa decided to call him that anyway. His real name is Joseph Blake, but his mom and everyone calls him Blake and has ever since he was born. So when he came to Utah to go to school after his mission, one of his roommates in his apartment was also named Blake, so he told them his nick-name was Buck and thus everyone who knows him in Utah knows him as Buck. He even had Buck put on the back of his rodeo chaps. (He was a Bull Rider for over 10 years; he rode in rodeos all over Utah, Oregon, and Idaho) Anyways, we met in our apartment complex and everyone called him Buck. Even our bishop of our singles' ward called him Buck in church when he gave him a calling. I called him Buck and didn't find out his name was Blake for a few months. I introduced him to my family as Buck so that's what they call him. It's crazy whenever we go places though, like banks, school, dry cleaners, any place where they have him in a computer, we go the rounds of if it's Joseph, Blake, or Buck. And when we go home to Oregon, they all say Blake, so then I get used to saying Blake and then when we come back, no one knows who I'm talking about. That's why he's Buck.

That's so funny, my son Easton has the same problem! His first name is really Joe But we call him by his middle name which is Easton. My parents call him Big Red because of his red hair, and Joe's side of the family all call him Little Joe, except for Joe's sister who calls him little E! So you would think that a little two year old boy would get all confused by all the many names he's being called, but he knows and understands every single one!
