Our much needed Day of Rest

This Sunday has been a very-much-needed relaxing day for both Buck and I. This past week was horrible. I worked 65 hours just this week alone, plus had class four days out of the week. Buck had class every day, with 3 tests he had to take, and a paper due. We only saw each other in passing. I also was very stressed because I wasn't sleeping as much when I got off work at 5 am (because I had to get up and go to class) and super stressed because I tested with Orem Fire Dept. this weekend to try and get a job there. If you don't know anything about the testing process to get onto a department, I'll give you a quick low-down. First you take a written test with paramedic and fire-fighting questions. Then you have a physical test which consists of sit-ups, push-ups, vertical jump, bench pressing and a mile and a half run, which is timed. If you pass all that then the next day you take what's called the FireFighter Combat Challenge, and it's basically 13 minutes of fierce, enduring physical activity. You have to hit a weighted sled with a sledge hammer, climb ladders, connect 3 inch hose, pull out 150 feet of charged hose, (charged meaning it's filled with water) walk around the fire station a couple times, pack a bundle of hose on your shoulder up and down a flight of stairs, crawl, push, climb, poke, and then the very end is you drag a 180 lb dummy down and around a cone and back. That's not the exact order it's in and you have to do certain things but the details would take forever. Anyways, the test kills me. I can finish it, but barely and I'm spent afterwards and I had almost double the time on all the other people doing that test. (I was the only girl there). So I wasn't feeling very well, probably because I wasn't sleeping very well. Well doing both tests this weekend didn't help so last night (Sat night) I was supposed to work all night till 4 am but I felt so crappy my charge nurse sent me home about half way through my shift. I came home, medicated myself, and crashed. Buck knew I hadn't been feeling well so he took care of me and rested with me. I still don't feel quite up to par yet but I definately feel lots better.

So this afternoon for dinner Buck BBQ'd some chicken, (don't mind our protruding garbage can in the background) and we had that with homemade rolls and steamed veggies. We both have to study a bit but other than that it has felt so amazing to relax and not be as stressed. In this last picture I was trying something out but it didn't really work. I still like it though, even though it's kinda dark.
